AT&T Uverse was the product name prior to using AT&T Internet. Since you have one of our legacy gateway/router, it is still using the older name. You are correct that the Pace 5031NV device only has 802.11n Wi-Fi technology but that should be more than adequate to handle the speeds that you are receiving.

The retentions employee gave you bad, i.e. outdated, information. There is no longer any point in purchasing an RG for use with U-verse. It has been that way for 7.5 months. Regardless of whether you bought the RG and managed to get AT&T to activate it, or had AT&T provide you with one, you will pay AT&T an $8/month equipment fee.
