Older Stellarvue Models?
Loc: Northern VA. Posted 22 December 2020 - 06:05 PM. The optics for the older SV-80 apo models were specified (vice manufactured) by Stellarvue, but nevertheless inspected to ensure optical properties were as specified or they were rejected by Stellarvue. They are also inspected in the field before they are shipped.

Stellarvue?
The Stellarvue SV80ST-25SV features an 80 mm f-6 (480 mm focal length) fully multi-coated, 3 element objective lens with an Ohara FPL-53 center element. It is not a mass produced scope using inferior glass and sloppy mechanics. The standard model (SV080ST-25SV) comes with an aluminum tube, which means it remains cooler than …
Stellarvue is coming out with a new scope a 180mm Monster!
Yes $18K would be my guess, since a TEC180 f/7 runs $19K. I am on the list. SVX180T f/7 will replace my SVX152T f/8. Given my local conditions I generally need 15+ hours of integration time with the 152T, so I think the faster 180T should reduce that.
Stellarvue SVX Experience
This will differentiate if the telescope optic is nulled in green light or red light. SVX-G optics will be made for discriminating visual observers. If you are interested in purchasing a Stellarvue Refractor with SVX-G optics, email us at mail@stellarvue or call us at (530) 823-7796.
Stellarvue 4 mm Ultra Wide Angle 1.25" Eyepiece
Introducing the new Stellarvue Ultra Wide Angle eyepiece series. This eyepiece is ideal for higher power work on planets and double stars since it is very sharp, contrasty and has a generous 82 degree field of view. The 4 mm is ideal for those steady nights when you want to boost the power up on planets and observe fine details like the ...
Bench Test of a StellarVue SVX180 Apochromat
Page 1 of 49 - Bench Test of a StellarVue SVX180 Apochromat - posted in Refractors : Preface I kindly ask that no other DPAC images be added to this thread so as not to confuse the reader. Unless it's of the same make/model scope that I've tested (SVX180). Hopefully a robust exchange of ideas and opinions will follow especially how it …
Stellarvue SVX127D thoughts?
It goes a good bit deeper than my 92mm Stowaway, and it is lighter and a little easier to handle than my TEC140. I suspect that the SVX127D is a slightly tweaked version (by 2mm, and addition of a 3-inch focuser as compared to a 2.5 inch version, who knows what else) of what I got.
Astro-Physics 130 GTX vs. Stellarvue SVX 130 T
Loc: Chicago, Illinois. Posted 22 January 2023 - 02:59 PM. A 130 GTX will cost you between $ 8500- $ 10,000 if you can find one. one BIG difference, the 130 GTX with dedicated reducer will provide a 50 mm fully illuminated circle vs 42 with SV. The BIGGEST difference, the AP 130 GTX will NOT loose value. It will remain a rare " …
The Beginner's Guide to Reflector Telescopes
Views: 5418. The reflector is one of the classic designs for a telescope. The reflector telescope was first conceived by Sir Isaac Newton (hence "newt" in Newtonian), who first conceived of the idea that mirrors can be used to create a magnified image in the same way that a lens could. Newtonians are some of the most commonly sought after ...
Stellarvue or Takahashi?
At F7, better glass can mean better color correction. The $5,000 cost for the SV spec seems high. You can get an AT 130 F7 for $1, 800, which probably uses the same ED glass at a significant savings. Or you could get a TS 130 F7, which DOES use FPL53 as the ED element and with a 3.7-inch focuser for under $2,500.
Astro-Tech AT-130EDT Triplet or StellarVue SVX-127D Doublet
It all depends on how sensitive you are to price. I have no doubt you would be very happy with the performance of the SVX-127D. However, the AT125EDL has virtually the same aperture and design with a .95 strehl and above guarantee. Let's say the AT125 has .96 strehl and the SVX-127D has .99 strehl.

SVX Optics
Stellarvue's optics have evolved over the past 25 years with the addition of advanced testing equipment. Here is how we currently produce our SVX objectives.. Measuring Accuracy: The accuracy of an astronomical optic may be expressed in terms of Strehl ratio, introduced by the German physicist, Dr. Karl Strehl. A theoretically perfect lens would …

The 3.5" aperture of all of these focusers significantly reduces vignetting seen in smaller focusers when imaging. We include American-made CNC mounting rings, a retracting dew shield, metal dust cap, and protective case. The Stellarvue C130L case comes standard with the SVX140T. This is our largest heavy-duty soft case.

Stellarvue is coming out with a new scope a 180mm Monster!
Stellarvue has changed so much over the last 20 years. They started out with good quality 80mm achromats. Remember the AT-1010 and Nighthawk, both F/6, the Nighthawk 'aplanat' F/7, and the F/9.4 80-9D achromat, and the ED-80 NHNG with FPL-51 (or equivalent) glass. Which triplet to choose..?
Other Esprits (100, 120) seem to have a good reputation. If you can stretch to $2500, a Stellarvue SVX080T would be an unimpeachable choice. There are no real hidden bargains in this segment; most of the scopes in the $1500-2500 range will be excellent, but they will almost certainly not be perfect.
